The DDA was extended in 1995 to encompass the rights of disabled students.

Education establishments have a duty and responsibilities towards disabled students. These can be summed up as follows:

Not to treat disabled students less favourably, without justification, for a reason which relates to their disability

To make reasonable adjustments to ensure that people who are disabled are not put at a substantial disadvantage, compared to people who are not disabled in accessing higher education

Disabled student, benefitting from Keytools advice and services In the context of Education or the Library Services, law requires reasonable adjustments in every area of service to the public. These include providing suitable computer hardware and software for the ICT facilities in colleges and libraries, staff training in the use of such equipment, some knowledge and understanding of disabilities, and the responsibilities of staff under the DDA 1995 and SENDA 2001.

As experienced suppliers of Special Needs and ergonomic hardware, software and training, Keytools are fully aware of the requirements of the DDA and SENDA, and have worked closely with many libraries, schools and colleges, helping them achieve compliance in the area of Equal Access ICT.
